Danger Mouse

The reinvention of ‘Danger Mouse’ was a cornerstone of CBBC’s move to Salford. A co-production with FremantleMedia (which became Boat Rocker Media), the animation was by Boulder in Dublin.

I was Executive Producer, I finishing some episodes from the first series and helped to make all of the second series, it culminated in ‘Frozen’, our ‘half hour’ Christmas Special, which was BAFTA nominated, Ciaran Murtagh & Andrew Barnett Jones won The Writers Guild of GB for best children’s script.

It was quite a responsibility to run this beloved production, it was great working with the team at Boulder, Rob Cullen directed the first series, a tough act to follow, but Aidan McAteer came in for the second series and did an excellent job!

We had some great comedy writers, initially led by Ben Ward, then David Quantick, robust script editing, smart casting, with Alexander Armstrong as DM, Kevin Eldon as Penfold. We had many great comedy actors in the supporting roles, including Christopher Eccleston who said;

"I’m playing Macbeth at the RSC at the moment, Danger Mouse is just as important to me – and I’m not kidding!"
