2DTV & George Michael

I was doing the weekly graphics on ‘Have I Got News For You’ chatting with producer Giles Pilbrow (who I’d previously collaborated with at Spitting Image). I told him about the new 2D software we were working with and how it was revolutionising how we were working, he asked if that meant that animation could be made quickly.

The excellent writer Georgia Pritchett (Veep etc) joined us, one thing led to another and soon we had a pilot show on ITV. It went out after a Liverpool European game and inherited a huge audience, going down a storm and we were on!

Pop star George Michael was a fan. He got us to make the video for ‘Shoot the Dog’.

2DTV ran for five series, initially to huge audiences, then the schedulers kept moving it around in case anyone tried to watch it. (This was before catch-up). The late Monday night slot is a tough one and that was that.
